On the third day, a sunrise camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes precedes breakfast and leisure time at the camp operator's lodge. Rejoin your driver and vehicle for the return journey to Ouarzazate, with free time for lunch and a scenic drive back to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. Itinerary
Your budget shared 3 days desert trip from Marrakech to Merzouga. You will start early in the morning with a drive east of Marrakech passing through small suburban towns to the High Atlas Mountains.
Some stops will be made to take photos. Enjoy the scenery, stretch your legs and drink a cup of coffee. Drive uphill on curvy roads to the famous Tizi Ntichka pass. Before reaching Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, today’s first important stop for sightseeing. The Berber fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO listed landmark and is also known as the setting for major Hollywood epics, just to name a few movies that used the village for filming: Kingdom of Heaven, Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Cross the river that separates the Kasbah from the main road and explore the town at your leisure. If you want to hire a local guide, they are available on site.
After breakfast at your hotel in Dades Valley, our trip today will start with a drive along the 1001 Kasbahs road to Tighir Oasis, where we will turn onto a secondary road that will lead along the river to Todgha, where you will stop. for a walk in the oasis under the shade of palm trees and continue to Todgha Gorges. After some free time to enjoy the immensity of the huge cliffs and lunch at a local cafe (Free time), we continue in the early afternoon towards Rissani, famous for its date market, and being a starting point of the ancient commercial caravans. crossing the Sahara desert to Tomboctou.
Dunes of Merzouga: A quick stop, we will continue to Merzouga driving through a rocky desert landscape. Upon arrival at the Palais Des dune lodge, feel free to swim in their refreshing pool before preparing for your sunset desert trek back to camp. Meet our camel caravan and ride your camels through the incredible sand dunes that change colors with the sunset on the horizon as a backdrop. We arrive at our camp in the Sahara desert before dark. After some time to admire the sand dunes and surrounding landscapes, prepare for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars by the campfire. After an early sunrise camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes, arrive at the camp operator’s lodge for breakfast, a shower, and perhaps a quick swim in the lodge pool if weather permits. Meet your driver and vehicle and drive back to Ouarzazate. After some free time for lunch, we continue in the afternoon to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.
